This training course is part of the ongoing training of coaches and sports professionals, focusing on the development of young athletes throughout childhood and adolescence. Using a developmental and multidimensional approach, it will analyse the processes of growth, maturation, motor performance, health and psychosocial factors that influence sports practice.

The EXPERT training event, dedicated to the development of young athletes in athletics, brings together coaches, researchers and athletes to discuss talent, recruitment, retention and sporting careers. The programme includes presentations by experts such as Jorge Vieira, José Maia, João Valente dos Santos, Cláudia Dias, Paulo Cunha, Teresa Ribeiro, Rui Norte, João Abrantes and Pedro Pinto, as well as round tables with Patrícia Mamona, Patrícia Silva, Anabela Leite and Celestino Semedo.
Its objectives are:
To develop skills for an integrated understanding of young athletes' development, considering biological, motor, psychological and contextual factors.
To train coaches and sports professionals to interpret growth and performance trajectories, support talent identification and development processes, adjust training to stages of development, and make pedagogical decisions that promote performance, health, well-being, and the continued participation of young people in sports, regardless of the sport.
